Gurgaon metro a good idea

December 16, 2008 by kirtiyadav21

Gurgaon city is getting a ray of hope. The Gurgaon Metro project is step which should result in some alleviation of traffic and road congestion problems in Gurgaon. The sagging real estate market in Gurgaon should also get a fillip over a period of time, due to the buiding of this Gurgaon metro. This would be a feeder service for Delhi metro.

Gurgaon residents unite to fight for rights

December 5, 2008 by kirtiyadav21

The residents of Gurgaon have united, finally, to fight against the inaction of the Gurgaon administration. Gurgaon is fast becoming a metropolis but has the facilities of a Gaon. Water, power, roads and law & order in Gurgaon have been a severe victim of its booming real estate and consequent population immigration.

Talking about the population of Gurgaon, it is funny to note that wikipedia says it is 2 Lakh!!! Some sources point out that Gurgaon’s population is about 20 Lakh. Gurgaon.com estimates that the population of Gurgaon will reach 37 lakh or more by 2021 – http://www.gurgaon.com/content/?p=40 . That is a very large size of population. However, Gurgaon needs a fine set of leadership to take us there. With the current scenario, Gurgaon could fast see emigration and the population might even dip. Obviously, if you do not provide basic amenities to people and charge them huge amounts for penthouses and bungalows, what are the people gonna do in those houses.

Gurgaon roads and Hindi

December 2, 2008 by kirtiyadav21

I wonder what is the best tool to write in Hindi on the web. I know a few sites which write in Hindi – http://www.gurgaon.com/content/?cat=297 and others but I wonder if this technology has been optimised as yet.

Anyways. Gurgaon is now getting a lot of new roads so it is getting a shade better to travel in the city than before. I was talking to this friend of mine and he wondered if Gurgaon is getting boring though. No bar brawls in Gurgaon in the last few weeks! Omighosh! What a parameter to measure the ‘excitement’ of Gurgaon. Well, one this is reassuring – Gurgaon’s call centers are not firing! he he he he

Properties in Gurgaon crash!!!

November 22, 2008 by kirtiyadav21

Gurgaon is experiencing a real depression in property prices. Till a few months back, the property dealers in Gurgaon did not have any time for chasing clients as the latter were flocking them in large numbers, wanting to buy a ‘piece’ of Gurgaon. Now the chase direction has changed!

My boss was telling me that he gets something like 10 calls every day from very persistent property dealers trying to convince him that investing at this juncture makes a lot of sense. I was reading somewhere that the sales of new flats has come to almost zero in the last few days!!! The city’s portal Gurgaon.com also had a news item today citing that some national association of real estate developers have decided to lower the prices of properties to be launched – unheard of untill some time back!!! Check this out http://www.gurgaon.com/content/?p=256

I wonder what will happen if this continues. Will the prices of existing properties go down too? They may have already gone down a lot. A simple case of demand and supply. When there are no buyers the prices will go down to attract the buyers, till such time as the price becomes low enough for them to start buying. The problem in Gurgaon’s real estate market is that the prices have risen so much over the last 4-5 years that that downward journey may be a very long one!!!

House hunting joke in Gurgaon

November 11, 2008 by kirtiyadav21

Now this is hilarious. I don’t know if this is true, but this story at http://www.gurgaon.com/content/?cat=740  makes worth reading.

I had a similar experience way back when I went to live in Mumbai. They asked me all sorts of questions before giving me their house – whether you are a veg/non veg, married/unmarried, do I go late to movies…blah blah…at the end of it I thought that the only thing they left out was my Janm Patri.

To hear that this sort of a thing happens in North India and in Gurgaon was a revelation… lol

Better roads and some all night eateries please

November 10, 2008 by kirtiyadav21

While travelling to office in or cab, we often feel like we are going for a cross country trek. I was reading this wish list of gurgaon-ites at http://www.gurgaon.com/content/?p=241 and I thought though it is spot on, I can add a few to it.

Since we are calling Gurgaon a millenium city, it is time that the city started having some qualiy all night eateries – as of now all that we have are some road side dhabas…

Gurgaon is becoming a mess

July 9, 2008 by kirtiyadav21

Writing after a long time. Got caught in the rush traffic the other day and I can tell you that it was a royal pain. Took 1 hour to reach Palam Vihar from IFFCO chowk!!!!! I am not kidding. It was some emotional relief to find a video of simiar mayhem on Gurgaon.com – http://www.gurgaon.com/content/?p=150

Hey folks, does anyone have any idea why this agitation about the reliance SEZ. I have read the papers and know the off. story but what is the real story?

Villagers threaten kendriya vihar society

May 6, 2008 by kirtiyadav21

Have you heard that the nearby villagers of kendriya vihar sector 56 gurgaon are threatening and bullying the residents. This is very very funny. How can nonsense of this order prevail in a modern city like Gurgaon. Where is the police ? or will they come in only after someone gets injured or wounded, after a crime is committed? This kinds of low, really low politics of violence is the s**t that Indian cities are known for, no matter how modern they become. More funny than that is that no one is coming forward to criticise and stop this madness.

Traveling in Gurgaon is like a sine wave

May 2, 2008 by kirtiyadav21

Bravo. At last some one is saying something beyond the usual stuff about millenium city etc

http://www.gurgaon.com/content/?p=65

When we travel in Gurgaon it is at most times like your eyes are tracing a sine wave… up and down… up and down… oscillating over the bumps… Guess gurgaon authorities should levy a toll on all roads… even sector roads and roads in front of people’s house… atleast that way they will have someoe looking after them. this whole think really sucks baby.

anyway on to some other stuff. i hear that gurgaon is no longer attracting any more call centres as the cost of office space has gone uuuuuuuuuup. :) Holy cow… now do I have to travel to Narela for my next call centre job?
